Northport is a village of 19th-century Victorians, older colonials and waterfront homes gathered around a walkable Main Street and the harbor on Northport Bay. Carpentry here is often restoration as much as construction, and since 1989 Just Enterprise One Corp. has done both — framing for additions and structural repairs, plus the finish work these houses ask for: crown molding, wainscoting, built-in bookcases, custom closets, stair rebuilds and window and door trim. Our own crews handle it with the careful attention an older home requires.
Working on a hundred-year-old home is nothing like working on a new one. A century of settling leaves walls out of plumb and floors out of level, original trim profiles are long out of production, and plaster and lath sit where drywall would be today. Add the salt air coming off Long Island Sound, which is hard on exterior woodwork, and the detailing has to be deliberate. We scribe and cope to fit rather than force modern stock into place, custom-mill or match discontinued profiles, and back-prime and seal exterior trim so it stands up to a harbor climate.
Every project starts with a written scope and schedule at the estimate. Permitting in Northport can be its own step: work inside the incorporated village may answer to both the Village of Northport and the Town of Huntington, and we sort out which applies before the job begins. Most finish carpentry needs no permit at all; for framing or structural work we file the right paperwork and bring in a licensed engineer for anything load-bearing. We also serve East Northport and Fort Salonga.
