Storm damage on Long Island? Call the main line anytime.

Nor'easters and hurricane-season wind do the same handful of things to Long Island houses — and the damage gets worse every day it stays open to the weather. Emergency repairs are same-week, and we monitor voicemail 24/7 during storm events.

What we repair after a storm.

We're a residential general contractor, so we handle the structure and the building envelope — the parts of the house that keep weather out:

  • Siding blown off, cracked, or lifted — including the housewrap and flashing underneath, which is where the real water damage starts.
  • Gutters and downspouts torn loose — plus the fascia behind them, which is usually what failed first.
  • Broken, leaking, or wind-damaged windows and doors — including temporary closure so the house isn't open to the next band of weather.
  • Water intrusion behind siding and around openings — finding the actual entry point rather than patching the stain.
  • Carpentry and framing repair — rotted or split structural members, porch posts, railings, trim and exterior wood.
  • Fallen-limb impact damage to siding, gutters, decks, and exterior walls.
One thing we don't do
We are not licensed for roofing and we don't take roof work — including roof repairs after a storm. If your roof is damaged, call a licensed roofer. We'll gladly handle everything below it.

What to do in the first 24 hours.

  1. Stay safe first. Don't go up on a ladder in wind, and stay well clear of any downed line — call PSEG Long Island, not us, for anything involving wires.
  2. Photograph everything before you touch it. Wide shots and close-ups, inside and out. This is the single most useful thing you can do for an insurance claim.
  3. Stop the water if you safely can. A tarp, a board over a broken window, a bucket under an active drip — temporary is fine.
  4. Call your insurer to open a claim, and write down the claim number.
  5. Call us at (631) 983-8079 and we'll get out to look — same week for emergency repairs.

How the estimate works with your insurance.

Every estimate we write is line-itemed: what we found, what it takes to fix it, and what's included. Homeowners routinely share that written scope with their adjuster, because it describes the damage in the terms an adjuster needs.

To be straight with you about the limits: we're contractors, not insurance adjusters. We don't file claims on your behalf or negotiate with your carrier. What we can do is document the damage properly and give you a written scope you can hand over.

Why Long Island storms cause the damage they do.

Coastal exposure is the whole story. Salt air corrodes fasteners; wind-driven rain gets behind siding through gaps that would never leak in a normal downpour; and Nor'easters push water sideways into flashing details that were only designed to shed water downward. On the South Shore, hurricane-zone code exists precisely because of this.

Most of the "sudden" storm damage we're called out for started as a small unsealed gap that a big storm found. Our fall home-prep checklist covers the walk-around that catches those gaps before a storm does.
